Motion Capture Quality Optimization Tips (Continuously Updated)

I. Filming Tips for Better Results (Improving motion capture quality from the source)

1. Capturing subtle movements (fingers / feet)

Use a higher video resolution and slower shooting speed. Recording in high definition can improve finger capture accuracy. If the video is already clear but the result is still poor, you can provide the video ID (shown in the upper-left corner of the original video) so the official team can help investigate.

2. Avoiding forward-leaning or hunched character posture

Use an eye-level camera angle when filming. Avoid shooting from too high or too low an angle, as this can help prevent posture issues at the source.

3. Uploading upper-body-only videos

If you are uploading only upper-body footage, it is recommended to use Basic Animation Model v2.0. This can help avoid the issue of the generated character ending up lying on the ground.

II. Feature-Based Optimization

1. Foot sliding / hip twisting or rotation issues

Use the platform’s Physics Optimization 2.0 feature, which is specifically designed to improve these issues.

2. Head clipping into the ground during rolling motions

Use Basic Model v2 together with Physics Optimization 2.0 to resolve this issue.

3. Using the 2D correction tool

●  You can fine-tune IK contact detection by adjusting the ground contact markers:Red dot = foot touching the ground

● Green dot = foot off the ground

This helps improve motion accuracy more precisely. Please refer to the official tutorial for details.

4. Applying 2D corrections to the final animation

Please refer to the official tutorial for the full workflow.

5. IK parameter adjustment

Adjust the IK contact points to the correct positions. For detailed instructions, please refer to the official documentation.

III. Solutions to Common Quality Issues

1. Motion jitter / erratic movement / mesh clipping / floating / stiff character / finger jitter / abnormal hip or foot movement

Please provide the video ID (shown in the upper-left corner of the original video), and the official team will help investigate the issue more accurately.

2. Position drifting in long mocap clips / misalignment in stitched long videos

An editor feature will be released in the future specifically to address these issues. Please stay tuned for updates.

3. Mocap movement does not keep up with the video speed

This is usually caused by overly fast movement in the source video, which can make transitions less smooth. The official team plans to continue improving this in future updates.

4. Head tracking failure (mask / non-frontal camera angle)

This is usually caused by face detection failure. The official team is currently improving facial recognition capabilities, and this issue is expected to be addressed in future updates.

IV. Features Not Yet Available

1. Realistic face support (Metahuman)

This feature is already included in the development plan and will be released in the future.

2. OnlyFace feature upgrade

This is currently under research and evaluation, and future improvements will be based on user needs.

3. Animal motion tracking

At present, only human motion recognition is supported. Animal motion capture is not yet available.
